About Brick Breaker
Brick Breaker is a fast arcade game in the tradition of the ball-and-paddle classics. A wall of coloured bricks sits at the top of the screen. You control a paddle at the bottom and keep a bouncing ball in play, knocking out bricks each time the ball hits them.
Clear all the bricks to move on to the next level. Each level adds more rows and a slightly faster ball, and from level 3 some bricks (with a white outline) need two hits. You start with three lives and lose one each time the ball falls past your paddle.
How to play
- Press Play. The ball sits on your paddle until you launch it.
- Move the paddle with your mouse, by dragging your finger on the game, or with the left and right arrow keys.
- Click, tap or press Space to launch the ball.
- Keep the ball from falling past your paddle. Each brick you break earns points — higher rows are worth more.
- Clear every brick for a 100-point level bonus. Press P or Esc to pause.
Tips and strategy
- Where the ball hits the paddle controls its angle. Hit it with the centre to send it straight up, or with the edges for sharp angles.
- Aim for a gap at the side of the wall. Once the ball gets above the bricks it bounces around the top and clears many of them for you.
- Keep your paddle roughly under the ball at all times instead of waiting until the last moment.
- Top rows are worth the most points, so tunnelling up to them early is rewarding as well as efficient.
Frequently asked questions
How many levels are there?
Levels keep going. Each one adds rows (up to eight) and makes the ball faster, so the challenge grows the longer you survive.
What are the bricks with white outlines?
They are tough bricks that need two hits. They appear from level 3.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Drag your finger anywhere on the game to move the paddle and tap to launch.
